Nebraska Beats Purdue in Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament Second Round

Nebraska women's basketball is on to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Conference Tournament.

The No. 5 seed Huskers (20-10) topped the No. 12 seed Purdue (13-17) 64-56 in Minneapolis on Thursday afternoon.

The game featured eight lead changes. Nebraska went ahead for good by going on a 19-3 run during a five-minute span of the fourth quarter, turning a 40-40 tie into a 59-43 lead. Purdue mounted a comeback in the final four minutes but never got closer than six points.

NU shot 41% for the game, including 8-of-22 from 3. The Boilermakers went 7-for-20 from deep as part of a 36% shooting performance.

Jaz Shelley led the Huskers with 19 points, adding seven assists and seven rebounds. Callin Hake had 15 points and six rebounds off the bench, and Alexis Markowski had 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists. 

Purdue's Sophie Swanson hit seven of her nine three-point attempts and scored a game-high 25 points, but the rest of the team went 0-for-11 from beyond the arc.

Nebraska will next meet the No. 4 seed Michigan State on Friday afternoon.
