Nebraska Softball: Senior Infielder Earns Big Ten Conference Weekly Honors

She shared Big Ten Player of the Week honors with Michigan State’s Britain Beshears.

For the second time in her career, Nebraska third baseman Sydney Gray was named the Big Ten's Co-Player of the Week.

The senior went 5-for-16 in New Mexico with three homers and 10 RBIs.  She posted an .875 slugging percentage with a 1.000 fielding percentage in 19 chances at third base.

The Huskers finished the Troy Cox Classic 4-1 with wins over New Mexico State, Montana, and Sacramento State.

Gray drove in the game-winning run in Nebraska’s victory over NMSU on Friday. She then went 2-for-5 on Saturday with a home run, three runs scored, and three RBIs.

In the final game of the tournament against defending Big Sky regular-season champion Sacramento State, Gray had a pair of three-run homers in the win, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a career-high six RBIs.

Gray finished last season with seven doubles, three home runs and 22 RBIs. Through the first nine games this season, she has two doubles, three homers and 11 RBIs.

Gray and the Huskers finish out the month in Cathedral City, Calif., this weekend with five games at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
