Running back Joseph R. Himon II became the 14th member of Northwestern's Class of 2022 when he verbalized his commitment to the Wildcats Sunday afternoon via Twitter.

"I would like to thank every coach that has been a part of my life and coached me hard so that I could get to where I am right now," Himon wrote. "The journey is far from over! What that being said for the next 3-4 years I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Northwestern University!"

The Little Rock native secured offers from a total of 16 programs, including Power 5 offers from Northwestern, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Kansas, Miami and Missouri.

Himon made his official visit to Northwestern on June 18th, and according to SI All-American’s John Garcia Jr, he left Evanston impressed.

"Northwestern’s pitch was outstanding,” Himon said. “The way they were explaining how they develop their players and get them ready for the next level was great and just having a great coaching staff comes with that and also the academics speaks for itself."

In 2020, the 5'9", 175-pound Pulaski Academy running back rushed for 1,925 yards and 23 touchdowns. Himon also recorded 1,068 receiving yards and nine touchdown catches, leading Pulaski Academy to a 13-0 season and second consecutive Arkansas 5A state title. Himon capped off his junior campaign by being named the 2020 Arkansas Player of the Year.
