Talented Cornerback Trystan Haynes Is Ready To Experience Notre Dame

Notre Dame is looking to make a strong first impression on talented 2025 cornerback Trystan Haynes

Notre Dame has quietly been trending in a good direction with 2025 Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert star cornerback Trystan Haynes, who is one of the best two-way athletes in high school football. The Oklahoma star included Notre Dame in his top six schools list a few weeks ago. The Irish were joined by Georgia, Alabama, Miami Oklahoma and Texas A&M on that list.

On Saturday, April 13th, Haynes will be making his first trip to South Bend to check out spring practice on an unofficial visit. It’s a trip that he has been looking forward to for some time now.

“I really like Notre Dame,” Haynes told Irish Breakdown. “I’ve enjoyed all of the conversations I’ve had so far with the coaching staff. We talk pretty consistently right now.

“I'm excited to see how the players interact with each other and just the environment of the school,” he continued. “It’s my first time so I’m really excited to experience everything.”

This visit will be a crucial one for Haynes, who has really been trimming down the list and honing in on his finalists. Although it’s going to be a tough pull potentially, Notre Dame is competing against some of the top programs in college football and will have a chance to close in the end.

“Recruitment has been going well,” Haynes explained. “I'm just thankful for all of the opportunities I've received. I’d like to commit after I take my official visits this offseason. That’s the plan right now.

“Notre Dame is definitely a school I'm seriously looking at,” Haynes added. “They bring a lot of the things I’m looking for to the table.”

Haynes has put together an absolutely sensational offer list, being courted by some of the best programs in all of college football. Some of those top offers include the Irish, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU, Miami, Texas A&M, Nebraska, TCU, Utah, Arkansas, Missouri, Baylor, Stanford, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Houston, Iowa State, Kansa State and Kansas among others.

The 6-2, 160-pound cover man is considered a consensus four-star and top 250 national recruit by every major recruiting platform. Haynes ranks highest by 247Sports, currently sitting as the No. 119 overall player and No. 12 cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class.

The Oklahoma native was a two-way star for the Carl Albert Titans as a junior. In 14 games, Haynes recorded 51 total tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups. He also recorded four tackles for loss and three forced fumbles as well.

As if his defensive contributions weren’t enough, Haynes was also outstanding as a wide receiver in 2023. He led the team with 1,009 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 45 receptions, averaging an impressive 22.4 yards per reception. Haynes did all that while also returning kicks and punts for the team.
