Marvin Harrison Jr. Finishes Fourth in Heisman Trophy Races, Loses to Jayden Daniels
Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. made it to New York City, but will be returning to Columbus without any hardware.
The star Buckeyes receiver finished Fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting behind LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels, Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr., and Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix.
Harrison received just 20 votes.
Harrison hauled in 1,211 receiving yards this season, which ranked ninth in the country. That impressive total also made Harrison the first receiver in Ohio State history to amass back-to-back years with 1,000 receiving yards or more.
Harrison should not be disappointed with not being this year's Heisman Trophy recipient, as he has already earned several other awards for his efforts. Among Harrison's honors are the Offensive Player of the Year and Wide Receiver of the Year in the Big Ten, and the 2023 Biletnikoff Award (which is given to the most outstanding receiver in all of college football).
The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native was also the second Buckeye receiver to win the Biletnikoff, earning the honor 28 years after Terry Glenn in 1995.
Harrison's 31 receiving touchdowns are the third-most in the Ohio State program record books. The junior pass-catcher has a few program firsts to his name however, as Harrison has the most 100-yard games over his career (15) and the first two-time All-American Buckeyes receiver.
The No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes are preparing to take on the No. 9 Missouri Tigers in the 2023 Goodyear Cotton Bowl on Saturday, December 29. Harrison told reporters on Thursday he has not decided whether or not he will play against the Tigers.
The jury is also still out on if Harrison will return to Ohio State for his senior season, or declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. Whatever Harrison decides, he can rest easy knowing he has left a tremendous legacy with the Buckeyes.
