Fans Furious at Ohio State Game Being Placed on Peacock

Fans have expressed their fury with the recent announcement of the Ohio State vs. Maryland being scheduled to be broadcast on Peacock.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have found out their kickoff times and broadcast information for eight of their 12 upcoming regular season games. Kicking off with Week 1, it will be the first year of the Big Ten's new media rights deal they signed with Fox Sports, NBC, and CBS Sports.

Thanks to having a deal with three of the most popular TV stations in the nation, the Big Ten will earn an incredible $7 billion from the seven-year contract. Yet, while the Big Ten's lucrative media deal is great for the conference and its programs, the fans aren't happy with one aspect.

After a report from Action Network's Brett Murphy revealed the latest batch of kickoff times and broadcasting information, including two Ohio State games, Maryland and Purdue, the decision to place the former on NBC's streaming service Peacock has drawn sharp criticism from Buckeye fans.

As shown in two screenshots, @BoardGeniuses on Twitter revealed two posts on a message board from upset Buckeye fans who did not hold back their thoughts on the decision.

Another assumed Buckeye fan took to Twitter to express his relief that he wouldn't have to purchase a subscription to Peacock "just for one game."

"The Ohio State vs. Penn State looks like it's gonna be on Peacock, ..." one fan said. "So glad I will be at the game and not [have] to purchase that app for one game."

While another supposed fan put: "They're putting the Buckeyes on Peacock," with two heartbreak emojis.

The Big Ten's new media deal isn't the first one to see games put behind a paywall, as even ESPN has started doing the same with their ESPN+ subscription service.

Yet, with the new deal, Buckeye fans can expect to see more Ohio State games placed on Peacock... at least for the next seven years.
