Buckeyes Legend Jim Tressel Makes Prediction for Ryan Day vs. Michigan

If there are any shortcomings to Day's time in Columbus, it's two things: his failure to nail down a national championship, and his record against the team up north.

Ohio State head football coach Ryan Day has had tremendous success during his brief tenure with the Buckeyes. Day has posted a 45-6 record since 2019 when he took over full-time for former coach Urban Meyer.

But if there are any shortcomings to Day's time in Columbus, it's two things: his failure to nail down a national championship, and his record against the team up north.

Following Meyer, who was a perfect 7-0 against Michigan, Day won on his first try. But since he's 0-2, and that doesn't sit well with fans.

Now, another former Buckeyes coach says things are going to improve. “There’s no question,” said former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel. "I think the Buckeyes will make us proud in Ann Arbor.”

Tressel gave his prediction in a recent interview with the Toledo Blade. Tressel, who went 9-1 against Michigan, says he has even bigger goals for the Buckeyes in years to come.

“One of my goals in life is to live long enough to see us over .500 in the all-time series against Michigan,” he told Briggs. "The people who matter, the logical people who actually have a brain and understand the sport, they love what Ryan Day has done."

Overall, Michigan holds a slight edge over the Buckeyes with a record of 60-52-6. And fans of Day and the Columbus faithful hope that gap closes significantly over the next few years.
