Ohio State has picked up a verbal commitment from 2021 prospect Meechie Johnson.

Johnson is a four star point guard out of Garfield Heights, in Northeastern Ohio. Joining Kalen Etzler, Meechie Johnson is the second piece to Ohio State’s 2021 class.

The Buckeye staff offered Meechie Johnson a while ago, and have liked his scoring ability from the lead guard spot since his emergence to the high school level!

According to 247 Sports, Meechie is a top 80 prospect in the country, and a top five combo guard.

The current junior will most likely play more in-ball in college, but has the ability to work off ball to get open shots as well.

Chris Holtmann and staff have to feel good about picking up this one. A long way to go till signing day but, the staff gets another one added early. It is expected that Ohio State will now push hard for Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s Malaki Branham, a top 40 player in the country, who plays shooting guard.
