OSU Basketball: Former Cowboys Target Enters Transfer Portal

The Cowboys could make some noise with a former Oklahoma high school star entering the portal.

The transfer portal is filled with opportunities, and Oklahoma State might have a perfect chance to improve.

On Wednesday, Virginia Tech guard Sean Pedulla entered the transfer portal. After three seasons at Virginia Tech, Pedulla could make a move, but staying in Blacksburg is still a possibility.

Pedulla chose Virginia Tech over OSU in 2020 but it might have a chance to get him this time. However, without a coach, it might be an uphill battle to get any highly touted transfer portal commits.

The Cowboys' best hope is that Pedulla wants to be closer to home. He played high school basketball at Edmond Memorial and had a successful four seasons, leading the team to three state tournaments.

While at Edmond Memorial, Pedulla earned two all-state selections and was the second-highest-rated player in Oklahoma, behind only Trey Alexander. Following his high school years in Oklahoma, Pedulla became an integral part of Virginia Tech.

As a freshman, he did not see much action, playing only 12 minutes per game and never starting. He still made an impact in limited minutes by shooting 44.7% from 3-point range and 90% on free throws.

In the final game of his freshman season, Pedulla scored 19 points in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Texas. He carried that momentum into his sophomore season, scoring 15 points per game and starting all 34.

Pedulla improved again in his junior season, averaging career-highs of 16.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists. That includes scoring in double figures in 19 of his last 21 games.

In three seasons with the Hokies, he scored at least 20 points in 15 games and had two double-doubles last season.

Although the Cowboys are a long shot to secure any commitments before hiring a coach, Pedulla could give them a chance to replace some of the production they have lost this offseason with an Oklahoma product.
