Oklahoma State's basketball program is currently in a tough position. They're without a head coach while the transfer portal is open. On top of this, they parted ways with Mike Boynton -- an incredible recruiter -- and were unable to replace him before the portal got underway.

Because of the timing of parting ways with Boynton, the Cowboys have seen a few key players enter the transfer portal -- those being Javon Small, Brandon Garrison and, most recently, Eric Dailey Jr..

So far, Dailey is receiving some early interest in his first day being in the portal. According to basketball insider Adam Zagoria, Dailey has heard from UCLA, UCF, Texas A&M, Gonzaga and Iowa State.

Coming out of high school, where he attened IMG, Dailey was a respected top-100 recruit, who happened to choose Oklahoma State because of his relationship with Boynton, who is no longer the program's head coach. Because of this, his transfer comes as no surprise.

The Bradenton, FL, native was a four-star recruit before his lone season in Stillwater, where he averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 32 appearances. He started 16 contests, though he was moved to the bench, where he remained productive.

Averaging 22.3 minutes per contest, Dailey could have provided a much bigger impact if he had been given more opportunity, but he did well in the circumstances he was dealing with.

The programs that have reached out to Dailey are more consistent programs than Oklahoma State, so it'll be hard for the Cowboys to retain the forward out of the portal. First, though, they need to make a head coaching hire before the program can go into any new direction.

It'll be interesting to see whether Dailey gives Oklahoma State a chance to return him when a hire is made, or whether he's going to find his next program before the Cowboys have a head coach.
