STILLWATER -- Oklahoma State is preparing for their game against ORU this Wednesday as it officially kicks off the 2019-20 season. It's a huge game as the Pokes are looking to start the season off on the right foot, as opposed to last season when they dropped the season-opener to Charlotte on the road.

Something that's going to help in the area of starting the season off on the right foot will be an unofficial visit from one of the best prospects in the 2020 class.

Just a few days after including the Cowboys in his top-four schools, five-star guard Bryce Thompson out of Booker T. Washington in Tulsa will be in the house for the season-opener against ORU.

Thompson is a 6-5, 165-pound guard and checks in as the No. 15 overall prospect in the 2020 class, the No. four combo-guard and the No. 1 prospect out of Oklahoma according to 247Sports.

Thompson has already completed all of his official visits, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Michigan State, North Carolina and Oklahoma, with all but Michigan State making the final list. He's also set his commitment date and plans on signing on the first day of the early signing period, Nov. 13.

Because of those facts, and despite that fact that he lives only an hour from Stillwater, this is a huge visit for Mike Boynton and Co. It means that despite what some national pundits believe, Oklahoma State still has a chance and is absolutely in the running to land Thompson.

A few years ago, the program faced an FBI investigation. This past season, they finished the year having to hold an open walk-on tryout just to field a practice squad. What Mike Boynton and Co. has been able to do with the 2019 signing class, and how the 2020 class is shaping up with four-star guard Rondel Walker, is nothing short of remarkable.
