Betting Odds: Oklahoma State's Odds to Win The Big 12
For most Big 12 teams, conference play begins this week. With this, all their journeys to win the conference begin. For Oklahoma State in particular, this seems far off. They've got to name a starting quarterback and then find a rhythm with him consistently under center.
Other teams have spent the first few games honing their offensive and defensive schemes, whereas Oklahoma State remains rotating three quarterbacks as Week 4 looms just around the corner. This gives them a disadvantage heading into conference play, which begins with Iowa State.
So, who has the best odds to win the Big 12? According to FanDuel, Texas (-125) and Oklahoma (+275) are the two teams with the best odds to win the conference. Most preseason predictions had those two in the conference championship game so that checks out.
The next closest team to Texas and Oklahoma is Kansas State (+800). Outside of that, no other team has better than +1000 odds to win the conference. It seems like a two-man race with a third team threatening to join. Of course, that can change very quickly once Big 12 play really gets underway.
So where does Oklahoma State stand? They hold the eleventh-best odds, sitting at +10000, sitting just behind Baylor and Cincinnati. Plenty would have to go right for the Cowboys to climb the odds rankings and become a real threat to make noise in the conference. It's not out of the realm for them to jump, as they did in 2021 after a rocky start.
The Cowboys' first three games will be indicative of how the Big 12 schedule will play out for them. The Iowa State matchup should be a win, and snagging one of the Kansas or Kansas State matchups would do wonders for them.
Despite how the non-conference games have gone, plenty about this season is undecided and will remain undetermined until the Cowboys let the results take care of themselves in the coming weeks.
