Ole Miss OF Treyson Hughes Named to NCBWA Preseason All-America Team

The Mercer Bears transfer was named to the NCBWA Preseason All-America Team entering his first season with the Ole Miss Rebels.

The Treyson Hughes hype has begun in Oxford, Mississippi.

Hughes, one of the newest additions to the Ole Miss Rebels baseball roster, was named to the NCBWA Preseason All-America list on Tuesday, earning a nod with the Third Team. Over two seasons with the Mercer Bears, he hit for a .352 batting average and totaled 25 home runs and 105 RBI.

Hughes is a prime candidate to man either of the corner outfield spots for the Rebels this upcoming season, and he continues to add to his impressive resume as he was First-Team All-SoCon and made the SoCon All-Tournament team in 2023.

A native of Warner Robins, Georgia, Hughes played his high school baseball at Houston County High School before joining the Mercer roster in 2022.

Hughes has a massive opportunity to boost his hype with the Rebels offense looking to shoulder much of the load for the team, at least in the early portions of the season. The Ole Miss pitching staff still seems to have some major question marks following the loss of star lefty Xavier Rivas to injury last week, so strong at-bats will be key for the Rebels as they figure out the rotation.

It will be a couple of weeks before Hughes and the Rebels will take the diamond at the familiar confines of Swayze Field, but they will see their first action of the year on Feb. 16-18 when they travel to face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.

First pitch in the season opener is set for 10:35 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on Spectrum Sports.
