New Premium Seating and 'All-American' Plaza Expected for Swayze Field/O-U Stadium

The Ole Miss Rebels are planning construction on new seating and the addition of a Tim Elko statue at Swayze Field in the coming months.

Oxford-University Stadium at Swayze Field is getting a facelift in the coming months.

According to reports from Rivals, construction on new premium seats down the third base line will begin after this upcoming season at the home of Ole Miss Rebels baseball. This project includes 500 premium seats and an "All-American" plaza with a statue of former Rebel team captain Tim Elko.

Tim Elko

Keith Carter has hinted at Elko receiving a statue in his honor ever since the 2022 National Championship parade. Many great players have donned the red and blue in the past, but none have impacted the program quite like Elko. From swatting multiple grand slams in the 2021 Oxford Regional, to returning for his senior year, to finally hoisting that ever-elusive National Championship trophy, Elko has undeniably left his mark on Oxford.

Initially, the university had released renderings of upgrades to outfield seating as well as the student section in right field. With the report of these new upgrades in-store, the outfield seating might be a project for later down the road. Club 41-11, temporary club seating in right field, is set to return for this upcoming season.

The Rebels look to avenge last year's disappointing season as they open the year on the road at Hawaii on Feb. 16. First pitch on that Friday is set for 10:35 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on Spectrum Sports.
