Ole Miss Baseball Weekend Preview: Scouting Morehead State
The Ole Miss Rebels and Morehead State Eagles are scheduled to do battle this weekend at Swayze Field in Oxford, providing Mike Bianco's team another opportunity to sustain its recent positive momentum.
The Eagles have started the season 7-5 overall and are coming off back-to-back losses. They have played a couple of midweek games against in-state opponents Kentucky and Louisville, losing both contests.

Morehead State does have some pop in its lineup, though. It is led by senior Ryley Preece who was the OVC player of the year in 2023. Preece is also one home run shy of tying the program record at 49, which is something to keep your eye on throughout this series.
This weekend will also feature a new-look rotation for the Rebels. Coach Mike Bianco announced that Liam Doyle would be taking over the Saturday duties, and he has looked sharp thus far, posting a 3.60 ERA.
The Rebels now have two southpaws in the weekend rotation, Gunnar Dennis on Friday and Doyle on Saturday. This weekend could serve as a bit of a dress rehearsal for Doyle and the other starters prior to the opening of SEC play.
Bianco has now shuffled his rotation twice in recent weeks, and an ideal scenario would feature a set unit before hosting the South Carolina Gamecocks next weekend.
Friday night's first pitch between Ole Miss and Morehead State is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on SEC Network +.
