Coach Yo Reveals Strategy for Rebels Ahead of Selection Sunday

The Ole Miss Rebels have a week of downtime before they learn their postseason destination.

The Ole Miss Rebels had a sour ending to their run in the 2024 SEC Tournament, but they now turn their focus to bigger objects on the horizon, namely the NCAA Tournament.

After dropping the semifinals game against the LSU Tigers on Saturday night, Ole Miss is still projected to be a seven seed in the Big Dance when Selection Sunday rolls around this weekend.

Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin discussed her team's experience in the loss in postgame media availability as well as her strategy for the week leading up to the announcement of postseason seeding.

"We take our wins together, and we take our losses together," McPhee-McCuin said. "I wish I could have a couple plays back. I would have done some things differently, but we'll rest up, go home and get ready for the NCAA Tournament."

As the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament, Ole Miss only played two games in Greenville, S.C., picking up a win over the Florida Gators in the quarterfinals before dropping the game against LSU.

Coach Yo is still very familiar with her team, so she didn't necessarily learn a lot from the Rebels' time in Greenville. Still, she does expect to mold some new strategies for the postseason based on the film from last week.

"I learned a lot about my team since we won at Florida in overtime," McPhee-McCuin said. "When you get in these types of settings, it's about will. ... I didn't really learn much. I thought we had chances to win the game. It's just unfortunate, but we will learn from the film."

Selection Sunday for the women's bracket is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on March 17, and the event will be televised on ESPN.
