OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team is officially out of the fight in 2024, but it is never too late to receive postseason accolades.

On Tuesday, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released its All-District teams for the 2024 season, and Ole Miss senior guard Matthew Murrell was named to the second team. Murrell previously received second team honors from the Southeastern Conference.

As a senior, Murrell led Ole Miss in scoring (16.2 points per game), three-point percentage (0.398), steals (50), and minutes (1,055) in 2024. Murrell led the Rebels in scoring for the second year in a row. The Memphis, Tenn., native was one of the most efficient scorers in the SEC, as he finished ninth in the conference in points per game, 10th in field goal percentage (46.5), and tied for third in three-pointers made per game (2.5).

Murrell has played his final game as a Rebel, but he managed to etch his name in program history before his curtain call at Ole Miss. The senior is now the 42nd player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career points as a Rebel during non-conference play, and has since scored 1,444. Murrell is now ranked 16th on the all-time scoring list, and has also knocked down the fifth-most three-pointers in Ole Miss basketball history with 218.

In the second round of the 2024 Southeastern Conference Tournament, the Rebels lost to the Texas A&M Aggies 80-71, after Ole Miss closed out the regular season with an embarrassing loss at home to the same team. In his final game as a Rebel, Murrell recorded 14 points (shooting 4-10 from the field), three rebounds, and five assists.
