Ole Miss DC Pete Golding's Contract Details Revealed

What is the Rebels' new defensive coordinator making financially now that he is in Oxford?

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels defensive coordinator Pete Golding is new in town, and the financial details of his contract were revealed this week.

According to David Eckert of The Clarion Ledger, Golding's contract extends through Jan. 31, 2026, and it will pay him $1.9 million in his first season on the job. He will earn $2 million and $2.1 million in the next two years, respectively.

It was also reported that Golding's contract with the Alabama Crimson Tide, who he left to join the Rebels this offseason, would have given him $1.7 million had he remained on Nick Saban's staff this season.

Golding replaces former defensive coordinator Chris Partridge in Oxford, and his hiring was announced by the university on Jan. 14. A native of Hammond, La., Golding attended and played football at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. His first Division I coaching job came in 2012 as the defensive coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana, and he broke into the FBS ranks in 2014 at Southern Miss.

He had served as the defensive coordinator at Alabama since 2018 before joining the Rebels this offseason. Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has raved about this new hire on his staff since he got to campus.

"I think it's really big," Kiffin said in March. "Very different scheme than what we played before as well as some new pieces. It's not just Pete. A lot of work to do there. We've seen the system work really well at a lot of places, and we just have to get our guys to learn it."
