OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach John David Baker agreed to become the new offensive coordinator of the East Carolina Pirates on Friday, but despite his departure, one of his recruits in the 2024 cycle is still committed to the University of Mississippi.

2024 three-star tight end Dillon Hipp took to social media shortly after the Baker news was reported to let people know that he is remaining committed to the Rebels.

"Still 100% committed to the University of Mississippi. Can’t wait to get to work come January. #GoRebs" -- Hipp via X (formerly Twitter).

The Scottsdale, Ariz., native previously committed to Ole Miss in August and is rated as the No. 54 tight end in the 2024 cycle and the No. 16 recruit in his home state.

Hipp's affirmation gives the Rebels some stability in their tight ends room, as sophomore Kyirin Heath announced on Thursday that he will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. Freshman tight end Jayvontay Conner revealed on Tuesday that he would be entering the portal, but decided to remain a Rebel on Friday night.

All the movement in Ole Miss' tight ends room this week was likely due to Baker's departure, but it is reassuring to see that the team has only lost one player out of the position group so far. There is still no official word on whether or not senior Caden Prieskorn will return for one more season, but if he does run it back, the Rebels will have a plethora of depth and talent at tight end.
