OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart was among the 35 quarterbacks nationally added to the Davey O'Brien Class of 2023 on Tuesday by the Davey O'Brien Foundation.

Every quarterback included in the class is officially a candidate to receive the 2023 Davey O'Brien Trophy, which is awarded annually to the No. 1 quarterback in the nation, and is the oldest and most prestigious quarterback award in college football. The Kaysville, Utah, native is one of six quarterbacks from the Southeastern Conference to be selected to the 2023 class.

The junior is set to finish the year with career-high numbers in his second season under coach Lane Kiffin, as he has thrown for 2,080 yards 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions through eight games. Dart has also rushed for 326 yards and seven touchdowns on 85 carries.

Dart is successfully piloting an Ole Miss offense that currently ranks third in the SEC in both scoring (38.9 ppg) and total offense (474.0 ypg), and he has led his team to a 7-1 record which is good enough for second in the SEC West.

Dart has also landed on the watch lists for the Maxwell, Manning, and Johnny Unitas Awards. He has taken a massive step forward this season, and it has put the Rebels in a position to possibly take the SEC West if things fall for Ole Miss the rest of the way.

Before postseason aspirations can start brewing, however, the Rebels first must host the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT and the matchup will be televised on ESPN.
