'LFG!' Lane Kiffin Reacts to Matt Corral in New Pro Football Uniform

Ole Miss Rebels coach Lane Kiffin is thrilled with Matt Corral's new professional football home.

Time has passed since the Ole Miss Rebels went on a storybook run in the 2021 season, and the quarterback/head coach marriage of Matt Corral and Lane Kiffin has passed. Still, Kiffin finds himself rooting for his former signal caller, something he made evident on Monday morning.

Corral now suits up for the UFL's Birmingham Stallions, and the organization shared a photo of the former Ole Miss quarterback in his new uniform this week. Kiffin's reaction? Quoting the tweet with his trademark "LFG!" which drew the eyes of the Stallions' social media team.

"What @Lane_Kiffin said," the Stallions posted with a photo of Corral in his new uniform alongside a photo of the duo in their time at Ole Miss.

Corral, the Rebels quarterback for the first two years of Lane Kiffin's tenure in Oxford, helped lead his team to a Sugar Bowl berth in the 2021-22 season, a game Ole Miss could have won had his performance not been cut short in the first half by an ankle injury.

He was later selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft and sustained another injury in the preseason. He was later waived by Carolina and joined the Patriots in 2023.

In four years at Ole Miss, Corral threw for over 8,000 yards and 57 touchdowns, including a superb 2021 season that featured 20 scores and just five interceptions.

Kiffin now pilots another No. 2-wearing quarterback in Jaxson Dart, and they have their sights set on a College Football Playoff run in 2024. Ole Miss is currently in the midst of spring practice, and it will open its season at home against the Furman Paladins on Aug. 31.
