OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels tight ends Michael Trigg and Caden Prieskorn were named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List on Friday. Trigg and Prieskorn are two of the 48 FBS tight ends and 10 within the Southeastern Conference to be considered for the Mackey Award watch list in 2023.

The award is presented annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football, and the winner is chosen by vote from the John Mackey Award Selection Committee.

Ole Miss is one of seven programs nationally to have multiple watch list honorees and one of two in the SEC alongside the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia tight end Brock Bowers won the Mackey Award in 2022.

Both Prieskorn and Trigg made the watch list in 2022, with the former being named a semifinalist for the award with the Memphis Tigers. Prieskorn appeared in all 13 games for Memphis last season, hauling in 48 receptions for 602 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, all career highs. In 2022, Prieskorn was named first team All-AAC by both Phil Steele and Pro Football Focus after leading the Tigers in receiving yards.

Trigg missed time last season due to injury but has already been named preseason third team All-SEC by Athlon Sports. In his first seven games at Ole Miss, Trigg caught 17 receptions for 156 yards and three touchdowns. All three of Trigg's touchdowns were recorded versus the Central Arkansas Bears and tied the single-game school record.

The Ole Miss tight end duo could end up being one of the best in the country if both players can stay on the field in 2023. Be on the lookout for more two-tight end sets from the Rebel offense this season.
