The Ole Miss Rebels picked up their ninth win of the 2023 season on Saturday versus the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and have now turned their focus to Thanksgiving Day for another chapter in the bitter Egg Bowl rivalry.

Now that we have reached the final week of the college football regular season, it is almost time for the annual meeting between Ole Miss and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Rebels are on the cusp of achieving program history following the win over ULM, all they have to do is take down their struggling in-state rival on the road.

Mississippi State holds an overall record of 5-6 (1-6 vs. SEC opponents) entering Egg Bowl week and is led by interim coach Greg Knox after Zach Arnett was fired last Monday. The Bulldogs have had a disappointing season, but those woes would quickly diminish if they were to soil OIe Miss' chances at its first-ever 11-win season.

State will not be rolling over on Thursday as the team still has plenty to play for. The Bulldogs want to play spoiler for Ole Miss and more importantly secure their sixth win to become bowl eligible.

This will not be a game where the Rebels will be able to sleepwalk through the first half and then score 28 unanswered points to win. If they show up like they did versus ULM on Saturday, things could get ugly for Ole Miss.

Rebels' safety Trey Washington talked about the upcoming Egg Bowl after the win over the Warhawks and expressed that the team is ready to reclaim the Golden Egg.

"We're looking forward to it and we're ready to represent Mississippi well," Washington told reporters.

Kickoff between Ole Miss and State is set for 6:30 p.m. CT in Starkville and the game will be televised by ESPN.
