Rebels' Princely Umanmielen Among Top 10 Transfer Edge Rushers Entering 2024
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels turned heads this offseason by bringing the No. 3 NCAA Transfer Portal class in the nation, per On3, and one of their newest arrivals is already getting plenty of hype entering the 2024 season.
Ole Miss edge rusher Princely Umanmielen was rated as the ninth-best transfer at his position by Pro Football Focus entering 2024 with a PFF grade of 76.4. Umanmielen spent the last four seasons lining up for the Florida Gators, and recorded 39 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and seven sacks in 2023. The Manor, Texas, native earned second-team All-SEC honors for his efforts last season.
In four seasons with Florida, the senior registered 98 total tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks.
Umanmielen is rated as Ole Miss' No. 2 transfer this offseason, and will be paired up with the former No. 1 player in the portal, defensive lineman Walter Nolen. Both Umanmielen and Nolen were named to PFF's All-Transfer Team earlier this month.
“Umanmielen was one of the eight FBS edge defenders to record a higher pass-rush win rate than Scourton this past season, placing seventh in that department (22.2%). He was also eighth among Power Five edges in pressure rate (19%) this year. Umanmielen will join Walter Nolen on Ole Miss’ defensive line in 2024.” - PFF
The hype is building around Ole Miss' entire roster entering 2024, as quarterback Jaxson Dart was also recently named a Top 10 signal caller by PFF going into the new season.
