Ole Miss Rebels Open as Home Underdog in Magnolia Bowl vs. LSU

The Ole Miss Rebels are narrowly picked to drop this weekend's game according to Vegas.

You want a close rivalry game? You may have it this weekend when the Ole Miss Rebels host the LSU Tigers in the Magnolia Bowl.

Ole Miss opened as a 2.5-point underdog this week against the Tigers, and that line has held firm according to the SI SportsBook. Both teams will be looking to rebound after disappointing showings in Week 4, although one squad escaped with a win, and the other suffered a road loss.

LSU held claim to The Golden Boot against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, escaping Baton Rouge with a 34-31 win over its SEC West rival. Ole Miss, however, held a narrow halftime lead against the Alabama Crimson Tide last week, one that it saw evaporate in the second half in Tuscaloosa en route to a 24-10 loss against Nick Saban.

Last season, it was a loss to LSU that started the downhill slide for the Rebels down the final stretch of the season. Ole Miss opened an early lead against the Tigers, but it eventually fell in Baton Rouge 45-20 to the eventual SEC West Champions.

After struggling last week, both the Rebels and Tigers took a dip in the AP Poll released on Sunday. Ole Miss fell to No. 20 in the rankings, and LSU dropped to No. 13 entering this week's slate of college football.

This week, Ole Miss and LSU are scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. CT at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN.
