SOURCE: Ole Miss Rebels WR Jordan Watkins Suffers Hand Injury at Wednesday Practice

Ole Miss Rebels leading receiver Jordan Watkins reportedly suffered a hand injury at practice on Wednesday.

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver Jordan Watkins seems to have suffered a hand injury at practice on Wednesday, sources have indicated to The Grove Report. Watkins is currently the team's leading receiver with 536 receiving yards and has two touchdown catches through six games.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, it "seems that way" that Watkins was injured at practice, but the severity of the injury is still uncertain.

Watkins is a native of Louisville, Ky., and he suited up for the Louisville Cardinals before joining the Ole Miss roster prior to the 2022 season. Since coming to Oxford, he has put up 985 receiving yards and hauled in four touchdowns. Entering this season, he was named to the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List and also served as Ole Miss' leading returning receiver.

In 2023, Watkins has surpassed the century mark in receiving yards three times: against Mercer (111), Georgia Tech (119) and LSU (103). Those games have also marked the top-three contests in terms of points scored by the Rebels this season.

The Rebels are no stranger to receiver injuries this fall as standout transfer Tre Harris has been hindered with ailments multiple times this season. Harris was sidelined during Ole Miss' last game against the Arkansas Razorbacks with an injury and did not return to the game.

If Watkins is severely injured, it will serve as a large blow to an Ole Miss offense that has struggled to establish a rhythm at times during this campaign. The Rebels will take the field again, with or without Watkins, next Saturday when they travel to face the Auburn Tigers for a 6 p.m. CT kickoff on ESPN.
