Ole Miss Women's Golf Improves Five Spots After Round Two Of NCAA Championships

Day two of the NCAA Championships from Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona wrapped up on Saturday with the Ole Miss Rebels women's golf team tied for 20th place with a two-day score of 12-over 588 for the week.

The team rebounded on Saturday with 16 total birdies including 11 on the back nine. That's good enough for ninth among all teams.

"The girls played with a lot of fight today. We got a lot of great shots but unfortunately, the putts weren't falling for us today. I feel that we are close to putting together a really great round. We will give it our all tomorrow," said Coach Kory Henkes.

The top 15 teams and the top nine individuals from non-advancing teams will play another round of stroke play. The Rebels are four strokes back of 15th place in team play.

Andrea Lignell led the way for the Rebels in the second round with an Ole Miss-best score of 2-under par 70. She shot par on 14 of 18 holes while knocking in three birdies. Chiara Tamurlini shot a second-round 1-under par 71 by finding her way around the back nine with three birdies.

Natacha Host Husted scored a 1-over par 73 by virtue of two birdies. Elle Johnson, playing for Ellen Hume, scored well too, with a. birdie on the first hole. She totaled four birdies total with two on the front nine and two on the last nine.

Nicole Gal sank three birdies on her way to a 3-over 75, improving her first-round score by one stroke.

The Rebels continue the NCAA Championship on Sunday at 1:42 p.m. CT.
