3-Star Cornerback Bernard Causey Commits to Ole Miss Rebels

Causey made the decision official on Wednesday, coming to Oxford by way of New Orleans.

OXFORD, Miss. -- Lane Kiffin has secured another high school player from Louisiana, this time coming in the form of Bernard Causey, a three-star 2024 cornerback out of John F. Kennedy High School in New Orleans.

Causey made his announcement official on Wednesday on an Instagram Live broadcast, choosing the Ole Miss Rebels over multiple Power Five offers, including the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Mississippi State Bulldogs. In his top seven schools released on Tuesday, Ole Miss made the cut along with Mississippi State, the Illinois Fighting Illini, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Colorado Buffaloes and Missouri Tigers.

Causey helped lead his Kennedy Cougars to a 10-2 record in the 2022 season, a year that was ended in the playoffs with a loss to E.D. White (Thibodaux, La.). The cornerback is the Rebels' 12th commit for the 2024 class, one that was ranked No. 21 in the nation according to On3 prior to his commitment.

This news continues a wave of positive momentum for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels on the recruiting trail. Over the weekend, Ole Miss gained three commitments in the forms of Austin Simmons (2023 QB), Travaris Banks (2024 S) and Cameron Clark (2024 ATH). The Rebels also gained the pledge of three-star offensive lineman John Wayne Oliver on Tuesday.
