Three-star edge Maurice Davis out of Albany, Georgia, announced his commitment to the Rebels on Saturday afternoon. Davis, who was deciding between Ole Miss, Louisville and USF, took his official visits to each school in June.

The 6-5, 210 pounder from Dougherty High School is ranked as the No. 40 edge rusher in the country and the No. 72 player in the state of Georgia according to the 247 composite index rankings.

Davis held offers from 18 different Division I schools with some notable ones being Texas A&M, USF, Cincinnati and Louisville. According to his team's MaxPreps page, Davis has totaled 91 total tackles and nine sacks throughout his unfinished high school career.

He becomes the first edge commit from the class of 2024 for Pete Golding and Lane Kiffin, although the tandem has had strong momentum on the recruiting trail this offseason. The Rebels now have eight defensive commitments in the 2024 class, not including some athletes who may move over to the defensive side once they reach college.

In total, the Rebels now hold 17 commitments in the class of 2024, and they were pegged with the No. 28 class nationally prior to this commitment according to On3
