Since Oregon opened as a two-touchdown favorite against Cal last Sunday morning, the spread has grown by 4 points in the Ducks’ favor. According to multiple sportsbooks, Vegas now has the Ducks at -18, revealing that they’re expected by the colossal body of sports gamblers to win with ease over the Golden Bears.

With stud quarterback Chase Garbers being hurt for Cal, it’s understandable that bettors are steadily losing confidence in their ability to keep the game within reach against the Ducks. To make matters worse for Cal, receivers Brenden Schooler and Mycah Pittman are expected to return and make their season debuts for the Duck offense, which will inevitably make scouting and preparation much tougher for this prominent Cal defense.

Despite Vegas’ prediction, Cal has proven tough this season with stout defensive play and nearly hung on to win against now-ranked ASU last week without their stellar starting quarterback for the second half. It’s hard to imagine they’ll be a pushover for the Ducks, and if their defense comes to play, this game could turn out more interesting than what’s expected.
