The Ducks Will Focus on Young Depth at the WR Position with Brenden Schooler's Transfer

Oregon will miss Schooler in the locker room, but they are deep enough at the WR position to carry on without skipping a beat on the field.

While the offensive production for Oregon might not have taken a major loss by the announcement that was made on Tuesday afternoon, the culture and leadership for the Ducks took a big blow.

Senior receiver Brenden Schooler announced that he was entering the Transfer Portal for college football, which means that he will discontinue his season with the Oregon Ducks, and look to become a graduate transfer next season, being made eligible to play by using his red-shirt tag this season.

Schooler, who came to Oregon has a defensive back and made the transition to the offense over the years, had a tough start to his senior season after being sidelined for the first several weeks due to a foot injury. Once he returned, the senior had difficulty finding a roll in the offense, as young players like Jaylon Redd, Mycah Pittman, and Bryan Addison had stepped up in his absence. Schooler made a decision that was best for him and will look for a new team to play with in the future.

Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal spoke about this on Wednesday and said that they respect the decision, and will move onwards.

Looking forward, the Ducks' offense will not take a major hit with the loss of Schooler, who had two catches for 44 yards this year. With the likes of Redd, Pittman, Addison, and Juwan Johnson taking a bulk of the target share, Oregon also has young players like Josh Delgado, Johnny Johnson III, JR Waters, and Lance Wilhoite getting ready to step up.

While a leadership role in the locker room will be up for grabs, the offense shouldn't miss a beat as the team moves forward.
