Last week Oregon landed a commitment from four-star Forney (Tex.) safety Aaron Flowers.

He went in-depth on why Dan Lanning and the Ducks were the choice.

"It just felt right for me. It fits more of a vibe. Eugene. Oregon itself," Flowers said of his decision. "The coaching staff especially too. Everything went right for me. I felt like the most perfect fit for me, joining Oregon."

The Ducks were always full-steam ahead in their recruitment of the talented defensive back. Right from the jump.

"Ever since they offered me they've always been pushing me, always texting me, hitting me up," he said.

Towards the end it became a two-team race between Oregon and USC.

That's when Dan Lanning ramped things up.

"Towards the end Coach Lanning was just trying and doing everything he can, he showed me a two-hour presentation on why Oregon was the best fit for me with every bit of information known to mankind on it," Flowers said. "They were really good people. It wasn't just all recruiting, it was just them wanting the best for me. That's how they won out for me."

Oregon's newest commit was respectful when discussing why he chose the Ducks over the Trojans, adding that it depends on what a recruit is looking for.

"For me, I wasn't looking for the big city and all the flashiness, so Oregon just felt better for me. The staff, (I) had way better relationships with them. Oregon itself, the school, I just felt better connected there than I did at USC, so that's why I chose it."

If you follow recruiting you know how crucial it is to build momentum, which sounds like it factored into his decision.

"It was gonna be April or through May," he said of his timing. "And then let me get a class set up and build one of  the best classes in the nation for sure."

Who does he hopes joins him in Eugene as part of Oregon's 2024 class?

"We're trying to get Aaron Butler for sure. He's a phenomenal athlete," Flowers said. "We're trying to get him. Xavier Filsaime, for sure. He's my friend and all that. We got Justin Williams, Dylan Williams for sure. I think we can get him."

The Ducks signed six players from Texas in 2023 and that pipeline won't slow down any time soon.

"It's a strong connection. A strong pipeline too," he said. "It's only gonna get stronger too as the years go on."

A newer name also played a big role for Oregon in this recruitment, as offensive analyst Antonio Parks was able to build on a previous relationship.

"Me and him been cool because I was recruited earlier my sophomore year back at UTSA, he was there. He just happened to be connected right and he happened to be at Oregon. He played a good part for sure."

Oregon's newest commit plans to enroll early in the December/January window and is planning to get back on campus soon.

"Coach (Chris) Hampton and Coach Lanning were hitting me up today. I'm trying to go to the spring game so I'm gonna try to be up there for sure."

Flowers finished the interview with a message for Duck fans.

"It feels great. Oregon's definitely gonna win a natty in a couple years. I can feel it. We feel it coming. Everyone's talking about it. It's definitely special. Something special brewing up in Eugene."
