Penn State's Most Telling Statistics of the Peach Bowl

The numbers told a grim story in the Nittany Lions' 38-25 loss to Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.

Penn State posted some grimly telling statistics in the Peach Bowl, which went down as the most disappointing bowl performance of James Franklin's 10 seasons as head coach. The Nittany Lions allowed season-highs in points, total yards and passing yards while going without a first down in the third quarter.

Numbers often tell the story, and these Penn State football statistics from the Peach Bowl pulled few punches. Even the prolific offensive numbers underscored a narrative. Here's a glimpse at the stats:

540: Total offensive yards by Ole Miss (a season-high against Penn State)

394: Yards passing by Ole Miss (another season-high vs. Penn State)

270: Combined receiving yards for Ole Miss TE Caden Prieskorn (136) and WR Tre Harris (134). Penn State held nine teams below that number this season

217: Fourth-quarter total yards by Penn State, of 510

103: Yards after catch by Penn State tight end Tyler Warren, who finished with 127 yards receiving

84: Defensive snaps played by cornerback Daequan Hardy, a season-high for any defensive player

46: Snaps played be freshman right tackle Anthony Donkoh, who played 49 total snaps during the regular season

38: Ole Miss points (yet another season-high vs. Penn State)

21: Season-low snaps played by receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith, who was targeted once and had no catches

15-for-19, 246 yards: Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart's passing stats to the right side of the field

14: Third-quarter yards of offense for Penn State, a season-low

12: Penn State defensive players who played a season-high number of snaps (DE Dani Dennis-Sutton, 67; DE Zuriah Fisher, 46; DE Amin Vanover, 28; DT Hakeem Beamon, 49; DT Coziah Izzard, 36; LB Kobe King, 62; LB Dom DeLuca, 42; CB Daequan Hardy, 84; CB Cam Miller, 78; CB Zion Tracy, 48; S Jaylen Reed, 66; S KJ Winston Jr., 69)

11: Third-quarter points allowed by Penn State's defense, which had given up just 3 during the entire regular season

9: Third-quarter offensive snaps in three series for Penn State
