Penn State has landed another Ohio quarterback, as 3-star prospect Ethan Grunkemeyer announced his commitment to the Lions' 2024 recruiting class. Grunkemeyer announced his decision one day before competing at the Elite 11 Northeast Regional event in State College.

Grunkemeyer is the 14th player in Penn State's 2024 class, which ranks sixth nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite. He will join fellow Ohio native Drew Allar on the Lions' roster next year.

Grunkemeyer, a rising senior at Olentangy High near Columbus, threw for 2,649 yards as a junior and is beginning to generate the kind of attention Allar did before and during his senior year. Grunkemeyer also has received recent offers from Virginia, Indiana and Minnesota.

Grunkemeyer has made several visits to Penn State and returned May 21 to compete in the Elite 11 Northeast Regional event, a qualifier for the Elite 11 Finals this summer. Grunkemeyer earned an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals with a strong performance at the regional camp. Grunkemeyer also works with quarterbacks coach Brad Maendler, who has been Allar's trainer for years.

Penn State might not be finished recruiting quarterbacks in its 2024 class. The Lions recently extended an offer to Miles O'Neill, who will be a senior at The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., this season. O'Neill, who is from Massachusetts, recently has received offers from Pitt, Maryland, Texas A&M and Boston College. The 6-5, 220-pound quarterback quickly has become a name to watch in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Penn State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich offered O'Neill a scholarship after a recent visit.
