Penn State staged a recruiting coup in its own backyard this week, as 4-star receiver Tyseer Denmark committed to the Lions' 2024 recruiting class. Previously committed to Oregon, Denmark switched to Penn State after making a June visit to State College. His decision firmly anchors the Lions' 2024 recruiting class at the top for Pennsylvania prospects.

Denmark is the No. 3 player in Pennsylvania for the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite. His decision means Penn State has commitments from the state's top three players and five of the top 11. Denmark also ranks No. 33 nationally among receivers, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Denmark (5-11, 180 pounds) was named first-team All-Philadelphia Catholic League after a junior season in which he caught 53 passes for 892 yards and 10 touchdowns. He collected an elite list of offers — from programs such as Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame Texas and USC — and initially chose Oregon over a final three that included Ohio State and Penn State. Denmark committed to Oregon in November 2022 but reopened his recruiting process in June, when he visited Penn State. The Lions have played the long game recruiting Denmark, having offered him in 2021 and maintaining relationships through associate head coach Terry Smith and defensive line coach Deion Barnes, who recruit the Philadelphia region.

Denmark is the 18th player to join Penn State's 2024 recruiting class, which now includes six players from Pennsylvania. The Lions' class improved one spot to sixth in the 247Sports Composite national rankings. Denmark also represents a major addition during the June official-visit season, which wraps up June 25.
