Former Pitt Guard Xavier Johnson Arrested in Indiana

The former Pitt guard was picked up Sunday morning.

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt star Xavier Johnson was arrested Sunday, April 3 on charges of reckless driving and resisting arrest, according to the Monroe County Correctional Center. 

He was released from Monroe County Jail at 10:32 a.m on $2,000 surety, $500 bail. 

Johnson, who transferred to the University of Indiana last year after three seasons at Pitt, helped lead the team the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016. He averaged 12.1 points per game and led the team with 5.1 assists per game.

Indiana released a statement on the arrest, saying: 

"IU Athletics and the men’s basketball program are aware of the charges involving Xavier Johnson,” the university said. "IU Athletics will continue to gather facts, cooperate with and monitor the legal process, and take further action as the evolving situation warrants."
