Pitt Recruiting Taking Significant Step Forward

The Pitt Panthers are entering a new level of recruiting.

PITTSBURGH -- Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi locked himself into the Panthers until 2030 with a long-term contract extension. Now, he believes there's a serious shift happening on the recruiting front.

Pitt secured their head coach for the next eight seasons after coming off their first ACC Championship game. Add a Heisman finalist, a potential top-10 NFL Draft pick and the NCAA's best college receiver in 2021 and the Panthers are becoming a hot topic amongst recruits.

"The last two Saturdays, we've had a ton of prospects here," Narduzzi said. "We rate our prospects. We've had some really good ones, the highest rating you can have. We had a bunch of them the last two weeks. ... The last two Saturdays I've met till late in the afternoon or evening with prospects."

Why? Because prospects are looking for a head coach with stability and a winning program.

"Now, some of the best players are saying 'hey, lets go check out Pitt. I like what they're doing there.' And once they get here they go, 'wow, I love this place,'" Narduzzi said.

"I think a lot of parents, it's a big questions," he added. "You see coaches go all the time. It's a big question for kids, 'are you going to be here?' I had a bunch of recruits on Saturday and that question came up two or three times."

The Panthers locked up an IMG post-grad and a linebacker transfer over the weekend. They've had large amounts of recruits attend practice and scrimmages throughout spring practice.
