Local Pitt Basketball Target Commits to Kentucky

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- A local product and Pitt men's basketball target will not stay in Western Pennsylvania to play his college ball. Adou Thiero of Sewickly, Pennsylvania and Quaker Valley High School, a three-star combo guard in the class of 2022, announced on Twitter that he had committed to Kentucky on Sunday morning.
Pitt had offered Thiero, who's father played for John Calipari at Memphis, and he visited unofficially with the Panthers on April 18. He also took visits to Kentucky and Maryland last month and ultimately chose the Wildcats over Cincinnatti, West Virginia, Indiana, Xavier, Ohio State, Marquette and others.
Thiero won Player of the Year Honors from the Pennsylvania Basketball Coaches Association and led the Quakers to a WIPAL Class 4A title and a runner-up finish in the PIAA state tournament.
After suffering another offseason full of roster attrition, Capel has slowly begun to build the team back. So far this offseason, he's landed a few transfers -- Blake Hinson, Federiko Federiko and Nelly Cummings -- plus a pair of under-the-radar high school recruits in Jorge and Guillermo Diaz-Graham. Pitt still has three scholarships left to work with for this coming season.
