PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers were unable to add to their 2024 high school recruiting class this week by convincing one of the best players in Western Pennsylvania to stay home.

Royce Parham, a 6'7, 200-pound power forward from North Hills High School in Pittsburgh announced this week that he had committed to the Marquette over Pitt, Penn State and Xavier after naming each of them to his top four.

Parham is rated as high as the No. 4 player in Pennsylvania, No. 13 power forward in the class and No. 73 junior in America (On3). Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Maryland, TCU and Rutgers were some of the other teams involved in his recruitment after he averaged 21 points on 64% shooting and nine rebounds per game in his sophomore season. This season, he stepped up his game after North Hills lost most of its starting lineup to graduation and averaged 28.9 points per contest for his 20-8 squad.

Three-star guard Brandin Cummings, the brother of now-former Panthers point guard Nelly Cummings, remains the only commit the class of 2024 for Pitt.

If he had committed, Parham would have made it two players from the state of Pennsylvania committed to the same Pitt recruiting class for the first time since 2014, when Cam Johnson and Ryan Luther signed with Jamie Dixon's program.
