PITTSBURGH -- With the 2022 season over, the Pitt Panthers are well into the portion of their calendar dedicated to recruiting. Fresh off a dramatic win in the Sun Bowl, Pitt is hitting the recruiting trail hard.

Three-star athlete Daniel Coles is down to ten schools and Pitt is one of them. The Stafford, Virginia star will choose from West Virginia, Maryland, UConn, Penn State, Louisville, Duke, Boston College, East Carolina and Pitt. On3 has him as the No. 15 player in Virginia.

6'5 2024 offensive lineman Fred Johnson Jr. of Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio has picked up an offer from the Panthers. Kentucky, Michigan State, Tennessee, Michigan, Penn State and others had already extended offers.

Stephen Thompson graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications and political science from Pitt in April 2022 after spending four years as a sports writer and editor at The Pitt News, the University of Pittsburgh's independent, student-run newspaper. He primarily worked the Pitt men's basketball beat, and filled in on coverage of football, volleyball, softball, gymnastics and lacrosse, in addition to other sports as needed. His work at The Pitt News has won awards from the Pennsylvania News Media Association and Associated College Press.
