FINAL: Gamecocks Shutout Longwood In 10-0 Win

South Carolina's baseball team wins game one of their three-game series against the Longwood Lancers.

The Longwood Lancers got off to a quick start with back-to-back one-out singles, which made Eli Jones make tough pitches as the bases were loaded. However, Jones responded and got the third out via a strikeout to get out of the jam. After both Dylan Brewer and Ethan Petry were hit by a pitch, Cole Messenia got Brewer in with a ground ball to third to take an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.

South Carolina would add on in the second with a lead-off hit from Kennedy Jones, who eventually came home with an RBI single from Parker Noland. Will Tippett would also drive in a run of his own before Brewer hit an RBI double, increasing the Gamecocks lead to 4-0. Messenia would also add another in the third inning with a solo shot, taking a 5-0 lead.

The Gamecocks kept the scoring streak alive with an RBI double from Talmadge LeCroy. Eli Jones had a decent outing through six innings, throwing 108 pitches, 9 hits, five strikeouts, and 0 runs. Brewer continued with his success with a solo shot in the bottom of the 7th inning, taking the lead 7-0. Parker Marlatt came into relieve Eli Jones in the 7th and 8th, making quick work of the lancers.

Brewer would go on to hit his second home run of the game in the eighth inning, and Petry joined in on the fun with a solo shot of his own. The 10th run of the game would be an error by Longwood and three wild pitches to bring in the game-winning run for the Gamecocks.
