South Carolina MBB Bracketology Update: March 5th

South Carolina's men's basketball team is getting closer to the projections they had before their losses to Auburn and LSU over two weeks ago.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are in the home stretch as far as the regular season is concerned, and while Lamont Paris' squad is still battling for at least a share of the SEC regular season title and a double-bye in the conference tournament that'll take place next week, no one is questioning their status as an NCAA Tournament team. The question is no longer one of if the Gamecocks will make the big dance, but more so what seed-line will they be slotted on?

We've been monitoring this for the past several weeks, and after securing two more wins over Texas A&M on the road and the then-No. 24 Florida Gators at home this past week, the bracketologists whom we've followed bumped South Carolina up their overall seeding lines by an average of five spots.

NCAA Tournament Projections

CBS Sports' Jerry Palm: No. 5-seed in Midest Region (No. 18 Overall)

ESPN's Joe Lunardi: No. 6-seed in East Region (No. 21 Overall)

NCAA Analyst Andy Katz: No. 5-seed in West Region (No. 20 Overall)

Field Of 68 Network: No. 6-seed in West Region (No. 24 Overall)

Looking at Carolina's final two games of the season against No. 4 Tennessee and the Mississippi State Bulldogs, both games are Quad 1 opportunities based on the current NET rankings.
