Where The Gamecocks Are Situated In The SEC Men's Basketball Tournament Bracket

Despite winning a record-breaking 25 regular season games, South Carolina's men's basketball team doesn't receive a double-bye for their conference tournament.

The South Carolina Gamecocks came into this weekend hoping to be able to clinch a Top 4 seed and double-bye for the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament next week in Nashville, TN. While Lamont Paris' squad took care of business on their end, unfortunately, Kentucky, Alabama, and Auburn all won their regular season finale as well, meaning that the four-way tie for second place in the conference standings remains and that the Gamecocks will be the No. 5-seed in the tournament.

So, who'll they play this next Thursday? South Carolina will be taking on the winner of the No. 12-seed versus No. 13-seed game between the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Gamecocks defeated both teams by a combined 28 points in the regular season. Should Paris' team knock off whoever they play in the second round, they would then take on the Auburn Tigers in the quarterfinals, a team that, admittedly, is probably one of the worst matchups for Carolina on paper based on what happened back in the regular season.
