Antwane Wells Named Top 10 Wide Receiver In College Football
South Carolina is going through another offseason where they've made a ton of noise in terms of the players they've brought in from outside the program, bringing in underrated portal additions like Eddie Lewis while landing one of the biggest high school recruits in the program's recent history in Nyckoles Harbor.
The biggest win for Shane Beamer and South Carolina's football program this offseason has arguably been getting their top two offensive skill players, Spencer Rattler and Antwane Juice Wells, to run it back in 2023.
The combination of Rattler and Juice Wells gives the Gamecocks one of the better quarterback-wide receiver tandems in college football. After making an impressive jump from the FCS ranks to the SEC last season, it appears that Antwane especially is being held in high regard by the national media. This past Thursday, Wells was named by On3 as one of the top ten wide receivers in the sport, coming in at No. 9 on the list.
Regarding how he compared to other receivers in the SEC specifically, On3 ranked third overall behind Texas A&M's Ainias Smith and LSU's Malik Nabers. If the Gamecocks want to continue to progress this upcoming fall, they'll be relying heavily on No. 3 to lead an offense that will be a mix of old and new faces regarding the offensive skill positions.
