The Halftime Report: South Carolina Vs. Vanderbilt

Shane Beamer's South Carolina Gamecocks came into today's game looking to parlay their confidence boost from last week's win over to their second to last conference matchup of the season against Clark Lea's Vanderbilt Commodores. So far it appears that scenario is playing out, as Carolina is heading into the locker with a 130 lead over their SEC East counterpart.
Offensively, Carolina has been through the highs and lows depending on which drive you dissect. Pass protection has been great for Spencer Rattler, giving the fifth-year senior plenty of time to find his weapons, including Xavier Legette, who has already racked up 95 yards. The running game was a sore spot for this unit last week against Jacksonville State, and that has remained the case this week, with the interior o-line getting clogged up, and the Gamecocks running backs struggling to find any hole to run through.
The defense has had arguably their best first half performance of the entire season today against the Commodores, holding them to just 53 net offensive yards. Clayton White and his staff have done a tremendous job of rotating players in their defensive front, and putting them in situations best suited to their strengths. They've continued to employ the 3-3-5 look that they debuted against Texas A&M back in week nine.
Heading into the second half, Dowell Loggains has got to figure out a way to his offense in more of a rhythm, as they seemed to stall out in the final ten minutes of the first half. Defensively, White's unit just needs to continue doing their thing, and if that happens, Carolina will walk out of here with a win.
