Gamecocks Survive Jayden Scott's Latest Cut

South Carolina Football target, Jayden "Duke" Scott, narrowed his football recruitment to seven teams on Monday, including the Gamecocks.

South Carolina's Football made the latest cut for 2024 running back Jayden Scott, the 5'10, 205-pound Georgia native who plays for the Stockbridge Tigers. Scott has been putting on a show for prospective scouts and fans over the past couple of years; in the first five games of his junior campaign, Scott accounted for 542 rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns, an impressive campaign that followed his sophomore season, which saw Scoutt rack up 459 yards and six touchdowns over four contests.

Throughout this stretch, he's averaged 7.2 yards per carry, an above-average mark compared to other running backs in his class. One aspect of Duke Scott's game that makes him so dangerous is his track speed he brings to the football field, evidenced by his 10.88-second 100-meter dash and 3rd place finish in Georgia's 2022 5A State meet.

While there is mutual interest between South Carolina and Duke Scott, Gamecocks recruiters still have work to do to bring Scott to the program. Other teams like Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Rutgers, Duke, Northwestern, and Louisville are still in the mix for the 2024 running back.
