The new staff at Stanford is hitting the recruiting trail as hard as possible, and are making sure that the program remains in the mix for the top recruits in the country despite the program's struggles lately.

On Saturday we learned that the Cardinal are a part of 2024 four-star safety, Jaylen McClain's, top-10 schools along with a handful of other notable programs.

Joining Stanford as finalists for the New Jersey native are programs such as Notre Dame, USC, Oregon, and Georgia among others.

Here is 247Sports' Brian Dohn on McClain's skillset and what he brings to the table:

Has verified size with slight plus length and frame to play at 195 pounds. Has good speed markers but room for improvement. Offers versatility as cornerback, safety or nickel. Takes snaps on both sides of ball and possesses coveted dual-sport profile. Has personal-best of 11.06 in 100 meters in 22.77 in 200. During several live evals, including a camp and game, shows to be a fluid athlete with hip looseness to turn and run with receiver. Physical aspect shows most when playing safety. Is willing to jam at line of scrimmage and can re-route receivers. Is comfortable in backpedal and uses hips well transition into driving on balls in front of him. Smart player with instincts. Has good body control. Willing to make plays in the running game. Understands how to set edge to keep play inside. Strong form tackler. Shows closing speed toward ball carrier. Has to continue to work on getting off blocks and being active in run game when play is not to his side of field. Has to continue to increase speed. Starter at a strong Power 5 program early in career. Has NFL draft potential.

McClain ranks as the No. 242 player in the country, No. 21 safety, and the No. 4 player in the state of New Jersey.
