Ryan Bruno drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2023 MLB Draft
The hard throwing lefty heard his name called in the seventh round
A few rounds after Stanford's ace Quinn Mathews was drafted, the Cardinal saw their hard throwing closer Ryan Bruno get drafted as well.
Bruno was taken a few rounds later in the seventh round with the No. 205 pick in the MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He didn't quite have the season he had a year ago that saw him strikeout 71 hitters and record a 2.72 ERA but the velocity and potential is something that likely still flashes. This past season he went 2-2 with nine saves, but struggled with walks giving away a career high 36 free passes and compiling a 5.29 ERA.
He was one of the seven players from Stanford that were drafted on day two of the draft.
