Stanford knocks off No. 2 Texas, finishes weekend 5-0 after walk-off homer against CSU

The No. 12 Stanford Cardinal didn't start off the year as hot as they would have liked, dropping two games against No. 25 Kentucky, one against No. 7 Florida State, and another against No. 3 Texas.
They did however bounce back in a major way this past weekend at the Lone Star Invitational in Austin, Texas. They finished the weekend 5-0 after beating Louisiana 4-1, beating Colorado State 6-2, blowing out Louisiana 8-0, taking down No. 2 Texas in extras by a score of 4-3, and beating Colorado State again, this time in nine innings 3-1.
NiJaree Canady struck out 11 batters in the win over Texas, with the Cardinal winning via a sacrifice fly and contortionist-like slide from River Mahler.

In the final game of the tournament against Colorado State, the game was tied at one apiece. Stanford scored their one run in the second, while the Rams added theirs in the fifth. Freshman Jade Berry came up to the plate in the ninth with a runner on, and smacked a home run over the right field wall to give Stanford the win.
