In this story:

After an 8-1 shellacking by Cal State Fullerton on opening day, Stanford was able to bounce back in game two to secure a 7-5 victory.

However, it was game three on Sunday that had everyone in the country talking about Stanford baseball. A program that started the year at No. 3 in the country was on the ropes against a gritty, yet unranked, Cal State Fullerton club.

Stanford hopped on the Titans early in the first, going up 3-0 thanks to a two-run homer from Carter Graham, but the Titans were able to answer with five runs of their own the next half inning. Fullerton would go on to add another run to make it 6-3, before freshman slugger Malcom Moore added a solo shot to cut the lead to 6-4.

After adding another run to go up 7-4, Moore again was able to provide some offense for Stanford, hitting a two-run shot to cut the lead to one. Moore, who again is just a freshman, has three home runs on the year already.

Just when the game seemed to be in reach, the Titans surged in the eighth, scoring four runs to go up 11-6. Stanford was able to answer, and then some in the next half inning, scoring seven runs in the ninth to take the 13-11 lead with one of the sources of offense being a moonshot by Drew Bowser. However, that two run lead was not safe as a Fullerton hitter destroyed a baseball over a building behind the left field fence to tie it up off of Braden Montgomery.

The bats woke up even more in the 10th inning for Stanford as they would finally be able to pull away with an eight run inning allowing them to win 21-13.

Following the series victory, Stanford moved up to No. 2 in the country according to D1Baseball

Stanford will play their home opener on Tuesday against Cal, before they host Rice for a three game series.
